Mac Hammett, MDiv, LPC, CAC II
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Addiction Counselor specializing in counseling adolescents, adults, and couples on a wide variety of mental health issues.
I am a graduate of the University of California-Berkeley in philosophy and received my graduate degree at Princeton Theological Seminary in counseling. I have always been in pursuit of the deeper truth of life, and in my early career, I served two small churches in the rural impoverished region of South Eastern Kentucky. There I say “I did almost everything mental health”, meaning I lead the chaplaincy program at the hospital, worked as a guidance counselor at the school, and served the community at large.
I moved to Charleston in 1983 and it gradually became clear to me that leadership in the church was not my calling. Over the next ten years I experienced a dark and difficult journey in an effort to find my way once again. I traveled around the world in pursuit of my own personal growth and path, and opened my private counseling practice in 1994. I know first hand about the challenges of finding your way when you are feeling lost and disillusioned. No matter what has happened in your life, there is a way for each one of us to find our path. This is the essence of my counseling practice and I look forward to working with you on your journey.
May you find and follow your true bliss!
